Following the sighting of the Shawwal moon in Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, in 40 villages across Chandpur district in Bangladesh. These villages, including areas in Hajiganj, Faridganj, and Matlab, are home to followers of the Sadra Darbar Sharif who have been observing Eid in alignment with Arab countries for nearly 95 years.
The current spiritual leader of Sadra Darbar Sharif, Md. Arif Chowdhury, has confirmed that the main Eid congregation will be held at 9:30 AM at the Eidgah field of Sadra Madrasa. In anticipation of the celebration, the atmosphere in these villages has already taken on a festive tone since Saturday night, with preparations underway for the holiday.
This longstanding tradition of celebrating Eid with the Arab world continues to foster a unique cultural and spiritual bond among the followers of the Darbar Sharif, setting them apart in their observance while remaining deeply rooted in local customs and community spirit.
