Saudi Arabia has officially declared that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, March 30, following the sighting of the Shawwal moon on Saturday evening. The announcement came after the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia urged citizens to look for the crescent moon. The confirmation of moon sighting signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal.

In celebration of Eid, the Saudi government has announced a four-day public holiday for the private sector, allowing families and individuals to mark the occasion with traditional festivities, prayers, and communal gatherings.

In contrast, Indonesia has announced that it will observe Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, March 31, as the moon was not sighted in the country. The Indonesian authorities confirmed the decision based on astronomical data and moon sighting reports from various regions. This means Indonesian Muslims will complete 30 days of fasting this Ramadan.

Similarly, Malaysia has declared that Eid will also be celebrated on Monday. The country’s religious authorities noted that they expect the Shawwal moon to be clearly visible with the naked eye by Sunday evening, leading to the start of the new month from the following day. With the moon not being sighted on Saturday, Malaysian Muslims will also fast for a complete 30 days this year.

Brunei has also confirmed that it will observe Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday. According to official announcements, the country will mark the end of Ramadan after 29 days of fasting. The decision aligns with their moon sighting observations, which did not confirm the crescent moon’s appearance on Saturday evening.

Australia, which often announces its Eid celebrations before other countries due to its geographical location, declared earlier that Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Monday as well. The Australian Fatwa Council made the announcement on Saturday, confirming that Muslims across the country will conclude Ramadan with a 30-day fast. Australia was also the first country to begin Ramadan this year, starting the holy month on March 1.

The variation in Eid dates across different countries is largely influenced by geographical location and moon sighting practices. While Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid on Sunday following the moon sighting, several other nations including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Australia will mark the festival on Monday after completing their respective fasting periods.
