Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has reaffirmed that the Election Commission (EC) remains committed to its constitutional responsibilities, steering clear of political alignments. Addressing an event at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday, January 19, he stated that the EC is progressing towards elections in accordance with the government's timeline. The occasion marked the handover of laptops, scanners, and other essential equipment by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to facilitate voter list updates.

During his speech, the CEC emphasized that the EC seeks to meet public expectations by conducting free, fair, and impartial elections. He reassured that the voter list update process would be carried out with utmost transparency to address any skepticism among citizens. He further stated that the EC is determined to deliver on its pledge to ensure an election that upholds democratic integrity.

UNDP’s Resident Representative, Stefan Liller, who was present at the event, stated that the organization is evaluating ways to support the election process. He mentioned that consultations with political parties and other stakeholders are ongoing to identify potential areas of cooperation.
