Imanur Rahman (38), a Malaysia-based expatriate, was killed in a tragic road accident on Friday evening in the Shalnagar area of the Lohagara-Lahuria road in Narail. The accident occurred when a truck ran over him, according to Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ashikur Rahman.
Imanur, a resident of Kanchanpur village in Noagram Union, Lohagara, had returned to Bangladesh two months ago on leave. He was scheduled to fly back to Malaysia on January 4.
Police and Alaudin Molya, a cousin of the deceased, reported that Imanur was traveling to Lahuria with two friends on a motorcycle to meet other friends. When they reached the Shalnagar-Batasi area, Imanur was struck by a truck and died on the spot. The other two motorcycle riders, Nasir Sheikh (36) and Tawab Sheikh (37), both from the same village, were injured and admitted to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Imanur is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. He had already booked his ticket to return to Malaysia on January 4 to resume work.
OC Md. Ashikur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the truck and its driver, Faisal Kabir, have been detained. He added that legal action will be taken following further investigation.
