The government has officially recognized those who lost their lives in the July Uprising as "July Martyrs" and the injured as "July Fighters," and will address them by these titles in the future. The names of the victims and injured have already been compiled. Starting in March, the families of the martyrs will receive a one-time payment of 3 million Taka, along with a monthly allowance of 20,000 Taka.
The announcement was made by Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the Chief Advisor, during a media briefing held on Thursday at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital. He stated that during the July-August uprising in the country, many people lost their lives, and many others were injured. After six months of diligent effort, their details have been thoroughly documented.
The press secretary added that the family members of those martyred in the uprising would receive priority in government and semi-government employment opportunities. Additionally, the injured will receive medical treatment and benefits categorized into three levels.
According to Shafiqul Alam, the government has already published the list of 834 martyrs in the official gazette.
