The fire at Korail’s Bou-Bazar slum in Dhaka has been brought under control, although it has not been completely extinguished. Firefighters from seven units of the Fire Service and Civil Defense worked for about an hour to contain the flames.
The fire was brought under control at 5:12 PM on Wednesday, according to reports. The Fire Service was alerted about the fire at approximately 4:15 PM.
Anowarul Islam Dolon, an officer from the Fire Service’s Media Cell, stated that upon receiving the report of the fire at 4:15 PM, seven units from three nearby fire stations rushed to the scene and began working to douse the flames. Despite challenges, including narrow roads and traffic congestion that delayed the arrival of water-carrying vehicles, the firefighters succeeded in bringing the situation under control by 5:12 PM.
The fire broke out in a slum area near Gulshan Lake. The cause of the fire and details of any casualties remain unknown at this stage, according to the Fire Service official. Investigation efforts are ongoing.
