Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on fireworks, firecrackers, and the release of sky lanterns during the celebration of Christmas, the largest religious festival for Christians, which will be observed on Wednesday, December 25.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjad Ali, the restrictions were outlined to maintain a solemn and festive atmosphere for the occasion.
The notice stated that Christmas, as a significant religious event, will be celebrated by the Christian community on December 25. To ensure the event is observed in a peaceful and orderly manner, the DMP has enforced a ban under Section 28 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76). The ban will be effective from midnight on December 24 to midnight on December 25 throughout Dhaka Metropolitan Area.
The DMP has urged residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement to facilitate a safe and harmonious celebration of the holy Christmas festivities.
