Dhaka, November 18 – The International Crimes Tribunal has granted investigators one month to submit a report on the war crimes allegations against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in connection with the atrocities committed in July-August. Additionally, the tribunal has ordered the detention of 13 individuals, including ministers, advisors, and state ministers from Sheikh Hasina's government, in a related case.

This marks the first time former ministers and advisors of Sheikh Hasina’s government have been presented before the International Crimes Tribunal. The interim government, led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, had previously announced its intent to prosecute Sheikh Hasina and her associates for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity.

On the opening day of the trial, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam outlined the charges against Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of being at the center of several significant incidents, including the July-August massacres, the BDR mutiny killings, and the Shapla Chattar crackdown. Tajul Islam stated, “Sheikh Hasina was the orchestrator of these events, with the other accused acting as her accomplices.”

The tribunal proceedings are seen as a pivotal moment in addressing the allegations against a former head of state and her cabinet members. The next hearing is scheduled after the submission of the investigation report.
