A tragic road accident claimed the lives of five people and left at least ten others injured on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway on Friday morning. The incident occurred in the Dholeshwari Toll Plaza area when a bus, reportedly losing control, collided with a private car.
According to local sources, the accident took place early in the morning, involving a bus that veered off course and crashed into a private vehicle, also injuring nearby pedestrians. The collision caused significant damage, and emergency responders were immediately called to the scene.
Deowan Azad, Station Officer of the Fire Service in Shreenagar Upazila, confirmed the fatalities and injuries resulting from the accident. The injured individuals were promptly transported to Dhaka Mitford Hospital for treatment. Tragically, five of them succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the bus losing control. In the meantime, the damaged vehicles have been removed from the expressway to restore the flow of traffic. Local law enforcement and fire service personnel have urged drivers to exercise greater caution to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the victims and notify their families, while the injured are receiving necessary medical attention.
