A tragic accident in Cox’s Bazar’s Pekua Upazila claimed four lives and left another individual injured when a head-on collision occurred between an auto-rickshaw and a dump truck. The incident took place around 8:15 AM on Thursday at Hajipara Garage, located along the ABC Regional Highway in the Pekua Sadar Union.
According to Durjoy Biswas, Investigation Officer of Pekua Police Station, the names and identities of the deceased and injured individuals were not immediately available.
Eyewitnesses reported that the auto-rickshaw, en route to Pekua Upazila town, was struck by a dump truck coming from the opposite direction. The collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was completely crushed, resulting in the instant death of four passengers. Another individual sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported by local residents to Pekua Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment.
Responding to the incident, police arrived at the scene and seized both vehicles involved in the collision. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
