In preparation for the celebration of Victory Day on December 16, authorities have strengthened security at the National Memorial and its surrounding areas. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range, AKM Awlad Hossain, announced on Saturday, December 14, that a four-tier security system has been implemented alongside increased plainclothes intelligence surveillance. He shared this information while speaking to reporters following an inspection of the National Memorial's overall preparations.

The security measures extend beyond the National Memorial to nearby districts, including Manikganj, Tangail, Gazipur, and Gazipur Metropolitan areas, which will also fall under the security perimeter. Approximately 23 kilometers of highways leading to the National Memorial, particularly along the Dhaka-Aricha route, have been secured with 11 designated sectors. Over 3,000 police personnel will be deployed to manage the four-tier security arrangements, supported by surveillance teams in plain clothes. Authorities will also monitor the entire area continuously using CCTV cameras. Law enforcement agencies, including police, RAB, traffic control, and other security forces, will remain on high alert both inside and outside the National Memorial premises.

Special traffic management measures have been arranged on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway to facilitate visitors arriving at the National Memorial. Starting from 4 AM on December 16, special access systems will be in place to ensure the smooth movement of people attending the commemorative events. Residents living near the memorial have been requested to notify local police about any unfamiliar individuals or new visitors entering the area over the coming days. Additionally, transport vehicles traveling from northern regions of the country have been urged to use the Chandra-Gazipur route to minimize traffic congestion on Victory Day.

Several senior officials accompanied DIG AKM Awlad Hossain during the inspection of the National Memorial. Present at the site were Additional DIG of Dhaka Range Mostafizur Rahman, Dhaka District Police Superintendent Ahmad Muyid, Additional Police Superintendent (Savar Circle) Shahinur Kabir, and Additional Police Superintendent (DB) Moharram Ali, among other senior officials from Dhaka District Police.

The National Memorial has been fully prepared to honor the countless martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence. The entire memorial area has been cleaned and decorated with fresh coats of paint and vibrant flowers. Workers have meticulously painted the steps and various structures around the memorial grounds to give it a fresh, solemn appearance in time for the Victory Day ceremonies.

On December 16, in the early hours, the President and the Chief Adviser will pay their respects at the National Memorial, after which it will be opened to the general public for tribute. The preparations signify the nation’s heartfelt reverence for its greatest heroes, with authorities ensuring a seamless and safe environment for visitors to honor the legacy of the martyrs.
