The government has announced an increase in fuel prices, which will take effect from February 1. A notification regarding the revised prices for diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane was issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Friday, January 31.
According to the notification, the adjustment aligns with the fluctuations in global fuel prices and follows an automated pricing formula aimed at ensuring a stable supply of fuel at comparatively affordable rates. The revised pricing system is intended to be implemented every month, taking into account changes in international fuel markets.
Under the newly set prices, diesel and kerosene will now be sold at BDT 105 per liter, an increase of BDT 1 from the previous rate of BDT 104 per liter. Similarly, the price of octane has been increased by BDT 1 per liter, setting it at BDT 126 per liter. Petrol prices have also risen by BDT 1 per liter, reaching BDT 122 per liter.
Previously, from January 1, octane was being sold at BDT 125 per liter, while petrol was priced at BDT 121 per liter. The revised pricing will be effective nationwide from the first day of February. The adjustment follows the government's policy of determining fuel prices based on international market trends, ensuring a balanced approach to energy cost regulation.
