The interim government, led by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is gearing up for both the upcoming national and local government elections. During a meeting on Wednesday, January 8, with Nicola Beer, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Dr. Yunus elaborated on the administration's comprehensive election plans.
In the discussion, Dr. Yunus outlined the government’s approach to conducting the general elections alongside local government elections, emphasizing the importance of strengthening local governance structures. He stated that preparations are being made to ensure that local governance remains truly representative and serves as a cornerstone for sustainable administrative efficiency.
Nicola Beer commended the government’s initiatives and assured the European Investment Bank’s support in implementing the key reforms. She pledged that the EIB would work closely with the interim administration to ensure the successful execution of their transformative agenda, which includes critical reforms for sustainable development and efficient governance.
Present at the meeting were Special Envoy to the Chief Advisor Lutfe Siddiqui, Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Ashiq Mahmud Chowdhury, Senior Secretary for Sustainable Development Goals Affairs Lamia Morshed, and EU Ambassador Michael Miller, among other dignitaries.
