The government has released a preliminary list of individuals who were martyred or injured during the July-August student and public uprising. This information was shared through a press release issued on Saturday, December 21, by Khandaker Zahidul Islam, the leader of the special cell and an Additional Secretary.

The press release stated that the special cell on the uprising, in collaboration with the Health Services Division, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and district committees across 64 regions, has been actively working to finalize the names of those who sacrificed their lives or were injured during the movement. As part of this initiative, the first draft of the list has been published on the official website of the special cell.

The draft list is divided into two categories: one for martyrs and the other for the injured. Both lists will remain open to the public until December 23, 2024. The families, heirs, or representatives of the martyrs and injured individuals are encouraged to review the lists and provide feedback to ensure accuracy and completeness. In addition, the government has urged anyone with relevant suggestions or corrections to submit their input via email to the special cell at muspecialcell36@gmail.com within the specified period.

The government aims to gather verified and comprehensive data on the individuals involved in the uprising. To facilitate this, the authorities have invited public cooperation in the form of corrections or the addition of information. Feedback from family members or other concerned individuals will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity of the final lists.

In a related development, on Friday, Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman, the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Health and Family Welfare, mentioned that a finalized list of martyrs from the uprising would be presented to the cabinet soon. However, he clarified that this will not be the ultimate list, as the process of verification and data validation is still ongoing.

This effort is part of a broader initiative to acknowledge the sacrifices made during the uprising and ensure that all relevant information is documented accurately.
