The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has urged newly appointed police officers to set a standard of integrity in their duties to earn the trust of the public. He emphasized that when the police are trusted by the community, citizens are more likely to cooperate in maintaining law and order.

Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the 43rd BCS (Police) batch at the Police Headquarters on Thursday morning, the IGP stated, "You are the future leaders of the police force. The dignity of the police depends on you. Therefore, you must perform your duties with integrity and create an exemplary standard for others to follow."

The IGP further noted that the recent anti-discrimination movement has provided the police with an opportunity to rethink public expectations. He stressed that as guardians of law and order, police officers must align themselves with the emotions and sentiments of the people while executing their responsibilities with professionalism.

"Policing is a challenging profession," he remarked. "You must acquire skills to tackle various challenges through your training. It is essential for you to gain knowledge about constitutional rights, human rights, and new laws. In today's technological era, you must also acquire knowledge and skills in modern technology related to policing. By mastering the latest technological advancements, you should strive to effectively control crime."

A total of 84 officers have joined the 43rd BCS (Police) batch as Assistant Superintendents of Police, consisting of 78 men and 6 women. The IGP's address highlighted the critical role that these new officers will play in shaping the future of the police force and the importance of their commitment to integrity and professionalism in their duties.

In conclusion, the IGP's message serves as a reminder that the relationship between the police and the community is built on trust, and it is the responsibility of the new officers to foster that trust through their actions and conduct.
