On Tuesday morning, a group of Sadpanti supporters from the Tabligh Jamaat, demanding the participation of Indian Maulana Mohammad Saad Kandhalvi in the upcoming Ijtima, marched towards the residence of the Chief Advisor. The march, aimed at pressuring the authorities to allow Maulana Saad's presence at the event, was halted in front of the Chief Justice’s house.

The protesters gathered in large numbers at Kakrail Mosque, where they began their rally around 9 a.m. As they moved toward the Chief Advisor’s residence, they chanted slogans calling for Maulana Saad’s inclusion in the Ijtima. The protestors are advocating for Maulana Saad's participation in the second phase of the World Ijtima, which is set to take place from February 7 to 9, 2024.

According to eyewitnesses, a large group of supporters began assembling at Kakrail Mosque in the morning and proceeded with their march around 10 a.m. However, they were stopped by a police barricade in front of the Chief Justice’s residence. In response, a small delegation of four to five representatives submitted a memorandum to the Chief Advisor’s residence, thereby concluding their protest.

The planned World Ijtima will take place in two phases, with the first phase from January 31 to February 2, and the second phase from February 7 to 9. Sadpanti supporters are particularly focused on ensuring Maulana Saad’s participation in the second phase of the gathering.

A senior police official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that thousands of Sadpanti supporters had planned to march to the Chief Advisor’s residence, but were halted by the police barricade before they could proceed further. Following this, the representatives submitted their memorandum and ended the protest.

In response to the announced demonstration, security around Kakrail Mosque, Kakrail intersection, and the vicinity of the Chief Advisor’s residence had been heightened. Local authorities took precautions to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain order during the protest. The situation remained under control as the protesters peacefully concluded their rally after submitting their demands.

The protestors have emphasized their commitment to ensuring that Maulana Saad’s followers are allowed to participate in the Ijtima, an important event for the Tabligh Jamaat community. While tensions briefly flared, the authorities have assured that they will review the matter and take appropriate action in the coming days. The protest highlights the ongoing debate over Maulana Saad's involvement in the Ijtima, a topic that continues to divide opinions within the Tabligh Jamaat.
