The ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has been tainted by allegations of unpaid salaries, with several players from multiple franchises reportedly yet to receive their remuneration. The issue escalated when foreign players from Durbar Rajshahi boycotted a match in protest of the unpaid wages. In response to this controversy, the National Sports Council (NSC) has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter.

In a press release issued on Thursday evening, NSC announced that the Bangladesh Premier League has already established itself as a professional T20 cricket league. The 2025 edition of the BPL has been designed to align with the vision of building a new Bangladesh, contributing to the country's national goals. The Chief Adviser himself has provided several innovative ideas related to the league's development.

The press release further stated that several media outlets have published reports regarding the non-payment of salaries to cricketers, a matter that has drawn the attention of the National Sports Council. The failure to pay players on time, as per their contracts, is considered detrimental to the reputation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the BPL, and the country as a whole.

To address the issues raised, the NSC has formed an inquiry committee. The committee will be led by the Director of Sports at NSC, along with the Private Secretary to the Chairman of NSC and the Assistant Director of Sports at NSC. The committee has been instructed to submit its report within seven working days.
