The interim government has extended the special magistracy powers of all commissioned officers in the Bangladesh Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force) for an additional 60 days.

This decision was made through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Friday, November 15.

The notification states that commissioned officers of the Army, with the rank of Captain and above, have been granted the authority of Special Executive Magistrates across Bangladesh. This special authority is effective for a period of 60 days, starting from the date of the notification.

The notification further details that these officers have been granted powers under various sections of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), including Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133, and 142.

Earlier, on September 17, the Ministry of Public Administration had issued a similar notification granting special magistracy powers to Army officers. Subsequently, from September 30, commissioned officers of the Navy and Air Force were also vested with these powers.
