The interim government has been urged to release the "Proclamation of July Revolution" by January 15, as called for by the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement. This declaration, they argue, is crucial to formalizing the objectives and achievements of the July uprising. The demand was raised during the "March for Unity" rally organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Civic Committee on Tuesday, December 31, at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar.

Student leaders who played pivotal roles in the July revolution called for nationwide engagement, urging activists to visit districts and neighborhoods to gather public opinions and aspirations until the January 15 deadline. Chants reflecting their demands and discontent echoed throughout the gathering, including calls for justice, sovereignty, and systemic reform.

Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated that the absence of an official proclamation for the July revolution must be rectified. He emphasized the need for a formal document by January 15 to acknowledge the people's struggles and set a clear direction for future reforms. Abdullah urged participants to mobilize and collect public sentiments from every corner of the country to shape the proclamation.

He also delivered a stern warning to alleged conspirators, declaring that individuals deported across the border would not be rehabilitated in Bangladesh. Abdullah criticized the interim government for failing to address extrajudicial killings and highlighted the unresolved atrocities, such as the Pilkhana massacre and the Shapla Chattar incident, calling for immediate justice.

Akhtar Hossain, the member secretary of the National Civic Committee, echoed these demands, stating that the people of Bangladesh aspire to create a new constitution that reflects their desires for reform. He announced that the upcoming parliamentary election would serve as a platform to elect representatives tasked with drafting a revised constitution. The election, referred to as a "Constituent Assembly Election," will enable the elected representatives to address public demands and implement necessary changes.

Hossain also hailed the announcement of a collaborative proclamation drafting process by the interim government as a victory for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. He urged the government to fulfill its promise and finalize the proclamation by January 15, ensuring that the people's voices and demands are effectively addressed.

As the rally concluded, participants reaffirmed their commitment to achieving justice, constitutional reform, and equality, underscoring their determination to continue the struggle against perceived oppression and inequity.
