Iran’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mansour Chavoshi, met with Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin on Sunday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. During the meeting at the Secretariat, both sides emphasized the potential for expanding trade relations, noting that the current trade volume falls short of the existing capabilities.
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin highlighted the mutual benefits of strengthening economic ties and urged Iran to increase investments in Bangladesh’s agricultural and farming sectors. He pointed out that both countries have significant export potential, which remains untapped.
Ambassador Mansour Chavoshi acknowledged the deep cultural, religious, and linguistic ties between Iran and Bangladesh, which have fostered strong people-to-people connections. However, he noted that trade relations have not yet reached their full potential. He expressed Iran’s keen interest in deepening economic cooperation with Bangladesh.
The meeting was also attended by Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman Md. Anwar Hossain, and Mahmoud Khosravi, Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Iranian Embassy. Both sides agreed to explore new avenues for collaboration to boost bilateral trade and investment
