IUBAT Mechanical Engineering Alumni Association Forms New Committee Amid Grand Reunion

The Mechanical Engineering Alumni Association of the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) celebrated a grand reunion on Friday, January 10, at the university's campus. The event, which ran from 9 AM to 9 PM, marked a vibrant gathering of former students under the shared identity of IUBATIANS.

The day-long celebration was inaugurated by IUBAT Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdur Rab. Former students participated in various activities, including music, conversations, storytelling, and nostalgia, creating a lively and memorable atmosphere.

Key attractions of the reunion included success stories shared by alumni, a photo exhibition highlighting the department's achievements over the years, and an evening of cultural performances.

In the afternoon, a special discussion session was held, presided over by IUBAT’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmudur Rahman. The event’s chief guest was Professor Dr. Joynal Abedin, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET). Special guests included IUBAT Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Dr. Md. Monirul Islam, and Director of the Placement and Alumni Office AKM Sharaf Uddin.

Outgoing association president Engineer Md. Tanvir Rayhan, General Manager at Delberg Cement Materials Bangladesh PSC, spoke on behalf of the alumni association, reflecting on the accomplishments of past members and the association’s future direction.

During the event, the executive committee for 2025–2026 was announced, comprising 75 members. Engineer Forhad Mahmud took over as president, while Engineer Md. Zowardar Fahad Bin Shahid (Pallob) was appointed general secretary. The committee’s chief advisor is Arif Md. Shahed Iqbal, with Dr. AKM Parvez Iqbal among the additional advisors.

The reunion concluded with a captivating cultural performance, leaving attendees with cherished memories. Dr. AKM Parvez Iqbal, coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Department, expressed gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the successful event.

Established in 1991 by academic visionary Professor Dr. M Alimullah Mian, IUBAT is recognized as Bangladesh’s first private university. The university, located on a sprawling 20-bigha campus in Uttara, currently offers 14 programs across six faculties. It hosts thousands of students from across Bangladesh as well as over 100 students from 12 countries in Asia and Africa, fostering a vibrant and diverse academic community.
