BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia arrived at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport late at night as she prepared for her departure to London after a gap of seven years. At 10:51 PM, she entered the airport premises through Gate 8. Officials from her office had already completed the necessary immigration formalities ahead of her arrival.
Earlier in the evening, at 8:15 PM, Begum Khaleda Zia left her residence in Dhaka's Gulshan area. Accompanying her in the car was Syeda Shamila Rahman Sithi, the wife of her late younger son, Arafat Rahman Koko. Along the route to the airport, leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) gathered at different points to greet her and show their support.
The departure from her residence saw a large crowd of supporters gathered outside, requiring her motorcade to make a slow and steady exit. The procession proceeded directly to the tarmac of Shahjalal International Airport, where a specially arranged air ambulance awaited her arrival.
The air ambulance, sent by the Emir of Qatar, arrived in Dhaka on Monday in preparation for her journey. It is expected to transport the BNP leader to London, marking the beginning of her much-anticipated visit.
