On Thursday, Chattogram District Bar Association continued its strike for the second consecutive day, protesting the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif. The lawyers are demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment for all those involved in the brutal killing. Since morning, the court premises have presented a stark contrast to the usual hustle and bustle, with no legal proceedings taking place. Lawyers refrained from handling any cases, and there were no hearings held in the courtrooms. As a result, all judicial activities at the court have come to a halt. The hearings scheduled for the day have been postponed, and new dates for these hearings will be fixed at a later time, according to lawyers.

The strike came in the wake of the tragic incident on Tuesday afternoon when lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was hacked to death outside the Chattogram Court building, near the Rangma Cinema Hall in the Bundel Sebak Colony area. The murder has shocked the local legal community, and the Chattogram Bar Association has decided to suspend all activities in protest of this horrific crime. Lawyers are insisting that those behind this brutal killing be brought to justice, demanding severe punishment to set a deterrent example.

Earlier, the Bar Association had called off other planned activities on Wednesday as part of their ongoing protests. The brutal murder of lawyer Alif has left the community in a state of mourning and outrage. Authorities have yet to make significant progress in the investigation, but the lawyers have made it clear that they will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to trial. The lawyers' demands echo the broader concern for the safety and security of legal professionals, with many pointing to this incident as an alarming escalation of violence against those in the legal profession.

The situation at Chattogram Court remains tense, with the Bar Association promising to continue their protests until their demands are met. Legal professionals across the city have expressed their deep concern over the rising insecurity within the profession, and the strike serves as a stark reminder of the need for stronger protection and justice for those who serve in the legal system.
