The Libyan Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdul Mutalib SM Saliman, expressed Libya's interest in recruiting additional workforce from Bangladesh, including professionals like doctors and engineers, to support Libya’s development initiatives. He extended invitations for Bangladeshi students to enroll in prominent Libyan universities.
During a meeting with Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Advisor’s Office in Tejgaon on Sunday, Ambassador Saliman acknowledged the significant contributions of Bangladeshi workers, especially in Libya’s agricultural sector.
He also recognized some salary-related issues faced by Bangladeshi doctors working in Libya, assuring that these concerns would be resolved promptly once ongoing reforms are completed.
Dr. Yunus emphasized the importance of joint efforts between Bangladesh and Libya to combat illegal migration and human trafficking, stating, "We do not support human trafficking, which has caused immense suffering. We should work together to put an end to this."
Dr. Yunus also encouraged the ambassador to enhance bilateral relations to boost trade and investment between the two nations. Additionally, he inquired about the possibility of Bangladesh importing oil from Libya as a mutual interest. Ambassador Saliman called for Bangladeshi authorities’ cooperation and stressed the need to resume direct air connections between the two countries.
