The price of auto gas (LPG) used in vehicles has been reduced following adjustments to value-added tax (VAT). The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the updated pricing through a notification on Wednesday, January 22.

Earlier, on January 14, BERC set the price of auto gas at 67.27 BDT per liter. However, in this latest adjustment, the price has been reduced by 42 paisa per liter, setting the new rate at 66.85 BDT per liter. According to the notification, the reduction follows changes in VAT and supplementary duty outlined in the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, and associated directives.

The notification detailed the pricing structure, noting that the LPG storage price was fixed at 53.14 BDT per liter, with an additional VAT of 7.5%, amounting to 3.99 BDT. This brings the final consumer price of auto gas to 66.85 BDT per liter, inclusive of a 4.41 BDT VAT component.

The revised price structure reflects the ongoing regulatory efforts to balance taxation and consumer pricing for LPG in the country.
