Mahfuz Alam has been appointed as the new Information Adviser in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under the interim government. The appointment was made through an official notification issued on Wednesday, February 26, by Jaheda Parveen, the Secretary (Coordination and Reform) in charge of the Cabinet Division, on behalf of the President. Prior to this role, Mahfuz Alam was attached to the Chief Adviser’s Office. His new assignment comes as part of the ongoing restructuring within the interim administration.
This development follows the resignation of Nahid Islam from the advisory council of the interim government on Tuesday. Sources indicate that Nahid Islam is set to take on a significant political role as the convener of a newly announced student political party, which is expected to be officially introduced on February 28. The transition marks a shift in leadership within the interim government, aligning with recent political changes and preparations for future governance strategies.
Mahfuz Alam’s appointment is viewed as a strategic decision to ensure continuity and effective management within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. With his experience in government administration, he is expected to contribute to the ministry’s policies and initiatives during the interim period. Further updates regarding the restructuring within the advisory council and other government divisions are anticipated in the coming days.
