An unidentified man, believed to be around 50 years old, was fatally injured in a road accident in Dhaka's Uttara on Tuesday night. The incident occurred near the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) headquarters around 1 AM, when a truck reportedly struck the victim.
Passerby Golam Rabbani, who discovered the injured man, stated that he was lying in the middle of the road, bleeding heavily. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that a truck had hit the man and fled the scene. Rabbani, with assistance from local residents, initially rushed the victim to the Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hospital. Later, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead around 4 AM.
Rabbani also mentioned that no one in the vicinity could identify the man or provide any information about him. The victim was dressed in an old lungi and sweater, suggesting he might have been homeless.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the Dhaka Medical Police Camp, confirmed the death. The body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy, and investigations are underway to identify the deceased and locate the vehicle involved in the accident.
