After 17 years of being under the influence of the Molla family, the Pallabi slum in Mirpur has finally been liberated. The 15-acre (approximately 45 bighas) piece of land, which had long been under their control, was reclaimed and placed under the supervision of law enforcement agencies.
From early morning, a significant presence of law enforcement was observed in the Pallabi area, signaling the initiation of the land recovery operation. Local sources reported that the Molla family’s prolonged control over the land caused numerous issues for the residents of the area. Despite previous efforts to address the situation, it was only now that the reclamation process was successfully implemented.
Residents expressed relief as this land recovery marks the end of years of challenges stemming from the Molla family’s dominance in the area. The reclaimed land is expected to pave the way for better management and reduced tension among the local community.
This action is being viewed as a significant and positive step by the government in its ongoing efforts to free occupied lands across the country.
