BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has emphasized the need for unity amidst the current political climate in Bangladesh, urging all pro-democracy and freedom-loving citizens to come together and reject any form of division. Speaking at a book launch event at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Thursday, January 9, Mirza Fakhrul called upon political leaders and activists to refrain from actions that might cause fragmentation.
During his address, Mirza Fakhrul remarked that a section of people appears to be desperate, attempting to divide the nation and its people through provocative rhetoric. He cautioned against falling into such traps and stressed the importance of solidarity to uphold democratic values and the country's sovereignty.
The event marked the release of a book titled “Rajbandir Jabanbandi” (The Deposition of a Political Prisoner), based on statements made by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia during her court appearances. The 300-page book, priced at 200 BDT, has been published by The Patriot and offers insights into Khaleda Zia’s legal battles and political struggles.
Mirza Fakhrul highlighted the significant contributions of Khaleda Zia’s legal team, journalist Shafiq Rehman, and former press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan in the preparation of the book. He described the publication as an important document reflecting the political challenges faced by the BNP Chairperson and reaffirmed the party's commitment to the ideals of democracy and justice.
Addressing the broader political landscape, Mirza Fakhrul reiterated the BNP’s call for unity among all factions opposed to authoritarian practices. He urged political leaders to prioritize collective goals over individual agendas and work towards a unified effort to restore democratic governance in the country.
