A young motorcyclist was found lying critically injured on a road in Dhaka’s Banasree area late Thursday night. He was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead in the early hours of Friday. The deceased has been identified as Saurav Khan, 31, son of Zakir Hossain from Sharsha Upazila in Jashore. Saurav lived in Nandipara with his wife and four-year-old daughter. He was employed at a travel agency located in Paltan, Dhaka.
According to Saurav’s cousin, Md. Imran, Saurav worked for an overseas employment company. On the night of the incident, he was reportedly returning home after dropping off a client. As he was entering Banasree Road from the Rampura Bridge area, a vehicle allegedly hit him, causing severe injuries.
Imran further stated that locals rescued Saurav and rushed him to the hospital. Later, family members were informed of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that a pickup van was involved in the collision that led to his fatal injuries.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge Md. Faruk confirmed that Saurav’s body has been kept in the morgue. The circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation, and authorities are looking into potential surveillance footage to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.
Saurav’s sudden death has left his family and acquaintances in deep grief. His colleagues at the travel agency described him as a hardworking individual, while neighbors in Nandipara recalled his friendly nature and dedication to his family.
Road accidents remain a major concern in Dhaka, particularly involving motorcycles and larger vehicles. Many such incidents occur due to reckless driving, lack of proper traffic enforcement, and inadequate road safety measures. Authorities are being urged to strengthen monitoring and implement stricter regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
The family of the deceased is seeking justice and has called for a thorough investigation to identify the vehicle responsible for the accident. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are working to gather further details and ensure that those accountable are brought to justice.
