A two-day national dialogue aimed at fostering unity begins today in Dhaka, concluding tomorrow, Saturday. The event will take place at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Khamarbari, with the opening session scheduled for this morning.

The dialogue will be inaugurated by families of victims and survivors of recent upheavals, while interim government head Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is set to deliver the keynote speech. The discussions aim to build consensus on critical issues related to elections and reforms.

Today’s agenda includes two sessions. The first session will feature political leaders such as Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, and Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim, alongside advisors like Adilur Rahman Khan, Sharmin Murshid, and Mahfuz Alam. The session will focus on setting the groundwork for achieving unity among political factions and civil society.

In the second session, speakers include advisor Md. Nahid Islam and Hasnat Abdullah, convenor of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The dialogue will explore broader socio-political challenges and address the immediate steps needed for inclusive governance.

On the second day, three thematic sessions will take place: "From Enforced Disappearances to the July Massacre: Challenges of Justice," "Responsibilities of Reform and Electoral Roadmaps," and "Bangladesh's Interests and Security in a Geopolitical Context."

Speakers for these sessions will include advisors such as Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Professor Asif Nazrul, and M Touhid Hossain. Political participants will feature prominent leaders like Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and Zonayed Saki. These discussions are expected to address long-standing issues related to justice, democratic reforms, and the country's position in the global landscape.

The national dialogue aims to pave the way for political reconciliation, enhance democratic accountability, and ensure security in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment. Participants and stakeholders from various sectors hope the dialogue will mark the beginning of a unified approach to addressing the nation's pressing challenges.
