National University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah, announced that the university will reintroduce the admission test for undergraduate (Honors) first-year students starting next year. This decision was made during his speech at a student-teacher gathering at Mokamtala Women's Degree College field in Shibganj on Saturday, November 16.
Additionally, Dr. Amanullah revealed that the university’s regional center in Bogura will begin its operations in January of the upcoming year.
The Vice-Chancellor also outlined the university's ongoing efforts to improve and reform the education system in Bangladesh. He mentioned that 2025 would be declared the "Examination Year" for the National University, aiming to reduce session backlog by 60-70 percent. Dr. Amanullah expressed his commitment to completing all pending exams by November-December of the following year to address this issue.
Dr. Amanullah acknowledged that there are negative perceptions about the National University and emphasized the university's efforts to overcome these misconceptions. He also highlighted plans to revise the existing syllabus and curriculum to better serve students' needs.
The gathering was organized by the Director of BSCIC and former Chairman of Shibganj Upazila Parishad, Mir Shah Alam. Other speakers included Vice-Chancellors Dr. G.K.M. Mostafizur Rahman of Gazipur Agricultural University and Dr. Hasanat Ali of Naogaon University, along with Shibganj Upazila Executive Officer Tahmina Akhter, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Nazran Rouf, National University College Inspector Abdul Hai Siddique, and Director Rofiqul Islam.
