A new political party, initiated by the Jatiya Nagorik Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has been officially named ‘Jatiya Nagorik Party.’
Party sources confirmed the finalization of the party’s name on Thursday, February 27. The leadership structure has also been determined, with Nahid Islam appointed as the convenor and Akhtar Hossain as the member secretary. Additionally, Hasnat Abdullah has been designated as the chief organizer for the southern region, Sarjis Alam for the northern region, and Nasiruddin Patwary as the chief coordinator.
The decisions were made during a joint meeting held at the central office of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee in Banglamotor, Dhaka. Four senior leaders of the committee confirmed the party’s name and the leadership appointments. However, sources revealed that the positions of senior joint convenor and senior joint member secretary are yet to be finalized due to multiple candidates vying for these roles.
If everything proceeds as planned, the party is set to officially launch on Friday, February 28. The inauguration ceremony will take place at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital, where the names of the top leadership will be formally announced.
