On February 5th, Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced via his verified Facebook page that a new political party, led by students and youth, is set to be launched later this month. The announcement comes after ongoing discussions about the formation of the new party.
In a post shared at around 12:30 PM, Hasnat Abdullah wrote, "A new political party is coming, led by students and youth! We want to know what kind of party you want, and we aim to build it accordingly." He further encouraged people to share their opinions by filling out a form, assuring them that it would take only five minutes to complete.
By the time this report was written, the post had garnered over 3,000 comments from readers.
One commenter, Mujakkir Alam Rafan, wrote, "May Allah grant mercy and blessings. We must work devotedly for the country. We need to love the country above individual and party interests. We must do something new, beyond the old, decayed political policies and ideologies."
Abdul Aziz commented, "I have been with you, and I will remain with you, InshAllah." Shah Alam Islam stated, "We need honest and capable leadership."
Another commenter, Akbar Hossain, emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, saying, "The new party must maintain maximum transparency and accountability. In addition to Hasnat Abdullah's post, other key members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Citizens' Committee, including the chief organizer of the Citizens' Committee, Sargees Alam, and central leaders of the committee, also shared posts on the matter.
