Neymar has made a grand return to Santos, the club where his football journey began, and though his comeback has created quite a buzz, it's his method of commuting that has grabbed attention recently. Neymar, who currently resides in a luxurious mansion in Mangaratiba, is traveling to Santos' training ground by helicopter, a routine that has quickly become the talk of the town.
The Brazilian superstar, known for his extravagant lifestyle, prefers the skies to the road when commuting from his plush residence to the training facility in Santos. Using his private helicopter, Neymar enjoys a one-hour flight from his mansion in Mangaratiba to the club’s training ground. But such comfort comes with a hefty price tag. According to reports from Brazilian media outlet Globo, Neymar spends nearly 7,000 Brazilian reais (equivalent to approximately 144,000 Bangladeshi taka) on helicopter trips each day.
Neymar purchased the Airbus BK 117 D-2 model helicopter back in 2019. The aircraft, which can carry up to eight passengers and two pilots, is designed to withstand even unfavorable weather conditions. Each trip from Mangaratiba to Santos burns between 240 and 350 liters of fuel, with each liter costing around 8 to 10 reais. This means Neymar spends between 2,400 and 3,500 reais for a one-way trip, with a round-trip total reaching 7,000 reais per day.
However, fuel isn’t the only cost that Neymar incurs. Additional expenses, including those for pilots, crew members, and helicopter maintenance, add up. The annual maintenance cost alone amounts to a staggering 400,000 to 500,000 USD, equivalent to about 60.9 million Bangladeshi taka.
To avoid the daily hassle and high costs of commuting by helicopter, Neymar is reportedly planning to buy a luxury mansion in Santos’ upscale Moro de Santa Terezinha area. He intends to settle there permanently and is expected to move in with his parents next week. Neymar's wife, Bruna Biancardi, and their daughter, Mavie, will stay in Mangaratiba, where Neymar owns two massive properties, one of which is valued at 28 million reais and boasts an extensive private safari with 500 animals.
As Neymar prepares to establish a more permanent base in Santos, his football aspirations remain front and center. He signed a contract with Santos until June 30, 2025, with an option to extend for another year. His short-term goal is to play as many matches as possible in the coming six months to catch the attention of Brazil's national team coach, Dorival Júnior, and earn his place in the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in March. Neymar is determined to make his way back into the Brazil national team, and his return to Santos represents not just a homecoming, but a critical step in achieving that objective.
Neymar’s comeback to Santos has stirred deep emotions among fans and football enthusiasts, but his lavish commute has become an equally fascinating topic of conversation. While his football journey with Santos continues, Neymar’s extravagant lifestyle, including his use of a private helicopter for daily commutes, keeps the public intrigued.
