The government has decided to make Nilphamari’s Deputy Commissioner (DC), Mohammad Nairuzzaman, an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for violating service rules by making critical remarks against the administration. The decision follows his controversial speech at a protest meeting organized by the BCS (Administration) Welfare Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited and the Bangladesh Administrative Service Association on December 25 at the BIAM Foundation Auditorium.

During the event, Nairuzzaman joined online and made statements that were deemed inappropriate and against government policy. According to officials, his remarks were perceived as a breach of professional conduct, which the interim government viewed unfavorably. The Ministry of Public Administration is reportedly preparing a gazette notification regarding his removal, which could be issued at any time.

Mohammad Nairuzzaman is an officer of the 25th batch of the BCS Administration Cadre. During the tenure of the Awami League-led government, he was allegedly overlooked for promotion. However, under the interim administration, he was promoted and appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari.

The incident has sparked discussions about maintaining discipline within the civil service, with the government emphasizing strict adherence to service rules.
