In the past 24 hours, no new dengue-related deaths have been reported, but 22 individuals have been admitted to various hospitals across the country due to the mosquito-borne disease. The information was released in a press statement by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday, January 30.
According to the report, among the 22 newly admitted patients, nine are from the Barishal division (excluding the city corporation area), one from the Chattogram division (excluding the city corporation area), two from the Dhaka division (excluding the city corporation area), two from Dhaka North City Corporation, five from Dhaka South City Corporation, one from Mymensingh division (excluding the city corporation area), and two from the Rajshahi division (excluding the city corporation area).
In the past 24 hours, 42 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals. So far this year, a total of 1,013 patients have recovered and been released from medical facilities. The total number of dengue cases reported up to January 30 this year stands at 1,154, with 61.5% of the affected being male and 38.5% female.
Despite no new fatalities in the past day, the cumulative death toll from dengue in 2024 has reached 10. In 2023, from January 1 to December 31, a total of 101,214 dengue cases were reported, with 575 fatalities.
In contrast, during the previous year, 2023, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 individuals, and a total of 321,179 people were admitted to hospitals due to the disease.
