Interim Government’s Chief Advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, emphasized the collective responsibility to unite the people of Bangladesh as one family. Speaking at a reception event for decorated freedom fighters and their descendants, organized by the Armed Forces Division at the Army Multipurpose Complex on Thursday, Dr. Yunus reflected on the values that underpin the nation’s identity and progress.

In his address, Dr. Yunus stated, "There will always be differences and debates within a family, but we must never become enemies. We must not perceive anyone as an adversary based on their opinions or beliefs. We are all equals—no one above or beneath another. This principle must guide our national life."

Dr. Yunus honored the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, describing the Liberation War as the most significant chapter in Bangladesh's history, which established the nation as a sovereign state. He recounted the bravery of Bangladeshi soldiers who left the barracks on March 25, 1971, and joined ordinary citizens in a mass movement for independence. The joint efforts of farmers, workers, students, and general people turned the war into a people’s revolution.

The Chief Advisor highlighted the contributions of the Bangladesh Armed Forces during the war, noting their efforts in organizing into "Bangladesh Forces," dividing the country into 11 sectors for coordinated operations. He praised the navy's bold missions, such as "Operation Jackpot," and the air force's tactical successes through "Kilo Flight." These efforts, he said, were integral to the eventual victory and remain commemorated annually on Armed Forces Day.

Dr. Yunus reiterated his pledge to uphold the ideals of the Liberation War, ensuring a just, inclusive, and prosperous Bangladesh. He said, "The dream of a fair, exploitation-free, and welfare-oriented state that freedom fighters envisioned remains our guiding principle. We aim to empower citizens as the true source of sovereignty and make Bangladesh a model of humanity and development globally."

The Chief Advisor commended ongoing initiatives to honor freedom fighters and their families, particularly the efforts of the Armed Forces Division, Army, Navy, and Air Force in hosting annual receptions. He acknowledged the challenges faced by aging freedom fighters and affirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare.

Dr. Yunus also stressed the need for international cooperation in addressing global challenges such as climate change and economic stability, ensuring that Bangladesh continues to progress alongside the world. He called on the youth to maximize their potential despite resource constraints and contribute to nation-building with creativity and innovation.

Expressing pride in meeting the decorated freedom fighters and their families, Dr. Yunus concluded with a renewed promise: "We are committed to fulfilling the dreams of those who sacrificed for our independence. Let us utilize this opportunity to transform Bangladesh into an exemplary nation on the global stage."

The event marked an inspiring call to action for unity, equality, and sustained progress in honor of the nation's heritage and aspirations.
