A shocking incident of gang rape has been reported in Narsingdi, where a 23-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly held captive for three days and sexually assaulted. The victim filed a written complaint at Madhabdi Police Station, leading to the arrest of one suspect, Iqbal, on Saturday afternoon.
According to the complaint, the woman was held in a building in Pachdona from February 19 to February 21, where she was gang-raped. Police conducted a raid in Pachdona and arrested Iqbal, a resident of Asmandichar in Pachdona Union.
Madhabdi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nazrul Islam confirmed the arrest, stating, "The victim filed a written complaint on Saturday afternoon, and based on the allegations, we have arrested Iqbal. A case has been filed, and legal proceedings are underway."
In a separate incident, local residents in Gabtali area beat up a guard of Tartiqqul Quran Academy Madrasa for allegedly attempting to rape a 6-year-old child. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, and a video of the guard being beaten went viral on social media. Police and army personnel rescued the guard and took him to Sadar Model Police Station.
Sadar Model Police Station OC Emdad Hossain said, "The guard of Tartiqqul Quran Academy Madrasa attempted to rape a 6-year-old child. Local residents caught him and handed him over to the police. Legal action will be taken against him."
These incidents have sparked outrage and mixed reactions among locals in Narsingdi. The gang rape of the pregnant woman and the attempted rape of the child have raised serious concerns about the safety of women and children in the area.
Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the perpetrators in both cases. The incidents highlight the urgent need for stronger measures to prevent such crimes and ensure justice for victims.
