In a demonstration demanding better medical treatment, those injured in the mass uprising in Shahbagh have blocked a road near the BSMMU (Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University) on Thursday evening. The protest took place around 6:45 PM when the injured individuals blocked the road heading towards Farmgate. The road blockage has resulted in halted traffic on one side of the road.
The protesters claim they are not receiving adequate medical care at the hospital, which prompted them to take their demands to the streets. One of the injured, Rakibul, shared with the media that he was hurt during the protests in Chattogram. He expressed his frustration, stating that despite helping in the country’s liberation, they are not being provided with the medical attention they deserve. He added that they are demanding the resignation of the hospital's director.
In response to the situation, additional police forces have been deployed at the protest site. As of the latest reports, Sarjise Alam, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, has arrived at the location to help address the situation.
