Abu Hanif (45), the Deputy Director of the Physical Education Department at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) and the General Secretary of Dumki Upazila Sports Association, died in a tragic road accident.
The incident occurred on Friday night near Dopdopia Zero Point along the Dumki-Barisal highway. Abu Hanif was returning to his residence in Barisal on his motorcycle after attending the semi-final match of the ongoing Day-Night Upazila Cup Football Tournament at the Dumki Government Janata College field.
On his way back, he met with a severe accident that left him critically injured. Locals rushed him to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (Shebachim) in Barisal, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The sudden demise of Abu Hanif has cast a shadow of grief over the PSTU campus and his hometown of Machuakali in Dashmina Upazila. His first funeral prayer will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM on the PSTU campus. Following this, his second funeral will take place in Machuakali village, Dashmina, after which he will be laid to rest in the family graveyard.
