Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Fortune Barishal, has recently been seen losing his temper during matches, particularly when confronting opposing players. In a recent match on Thursday, he was seen warning Sabbir Rahman, a player from Dhaka Capitals, after a tense moment on the field. Fortunately, the situation did not escalate further thanks to intervention from Thissara Perera.
The incident occurred at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong during a 140-run chase, where Tamim Iqbal and David Malan were batting. Sabbir, in the ninth over, stopped a shot near the boundary line but failed to return the ball to the bowler or wicketkeeper, instead leaving it in front of him. This action, known as "fake fielding" in cricket, is considered an intentional move to confuse the batter. Angered by this, Tamim warned Sabbir, saying, “Don’t go too far, Sabbir, don’t go too far,” followed by some other remarks that weren’t fully audible in the video.
Sabbir, however, calmly approached Tamim, and the situation was quickly defused when Thissara Perera and the field umpires intervened. On Friday, Sabbir shared his thoughts on the matter in an interview with a television channel, saying, "Whatever happens on the field stays on the field. Tamim Bhai is my senior, my big brother, and a respected legend in cricket. A cricketer like him will not come again in Bangladesh. It happened in the heat of the moment, and I didn’t take offense. He’s like a very close elder brother to me. We have a very good relationship, and I hope it stays that way forever. We will continue to do well in the future."
