Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary of the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, has referred to former Home Minister Asaduzaman Khan Kamal as the "Butcher of Bangladesh," accusing him of carrying out brutal acts against innocent civilians. The comments were made during a press briefing organized by the Press Wing on January 26 at the Foreign Service Academy in Bailey Road, Dhaka.

Alam expressed his outrage over Khan's alleged involvement in the killing of various groups, including children, students, workers, farmers, and rickshaw pullers, describing the former minister as a key figure in these violent actions. According to Alam, Khan was directly responsible for many atrocities, which led him to be labeled as "Bangladesh’s butcher."

In his remarks, Alam also condemned media outlets that covered Khan's interviews, specifically referring to a recent interview he gave to an Indian media outlet. The press secretary claimed that broadcasting such content was a form of international propaganda, suggesting that no reputable platform would ever give a butcher like Khan a media platform.

Alam's criticism came after the Chief Adviser’s visit to Davos from January 21 to 24 to attend the World Economic Forum's annual meeting, where global leaders discuss economic issues. The Chief Adviser returned to Bangladesh shortly after the event. Alam's comments reflect ongoing political tensions and the polarized views surrounding the former Home Minister’s legacy.
