Soumya Sarkar, who became the cricketer with the most ducks in international T20s last June, has now climbed to the second spot in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history for the most zero-run dismissals. The only player ahead of him is Anamul Haque Bijoy.
Bijoy holds the record for the most ducks in BPL history, having been dismissed for zero 15 times. In today’s Eliminator match, Soumya was dismissed without scoring, taking his tally to 12 ducks in the tournament’s history. With this, he surpassed Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Imrul Kayes, both of whom have been dismissed for zero 11 times in BPL.
Soumya remains at the top of international T20 cricket in Bangladesh, having registered 13 ducks. In today's match against Khulna, he opened the innings for Rangpur Riders but was run out on the second ball. Striker James Vince started running for a single but stopped midway, leaving Soumya stranded in the middle of the pitch. As a result, he was dismissed without even facing a delivery.
Adding to his personal disappointment, his team, Rangpur Riders, suffered defeat in the match, leading to their elimination from the tournament.
