On Friday, March 28, the state-owned Sonali, Janata, Agrani, and Rupali Banks will remain open for two hours of transactions from 10 AM to 12 PM. This is to allow teachers and staff of private educational institutions who are on the MPO list to withdraw their salaries. However, the banks will remain open until 3 PM for administrative purposes.
A circular from Bangladesh Bank has been sent to the banks regarding this schedule. The directive follows complications in the EFTN system for paying salaries to MPO-listed teachers and staff, which led to delays in salary disbursement due to incorrect codes. Many individuals received their salaries today after resolving these issues.
Friday marks the last working day before a 9-day holiday break, and Bangladesh Bank has issued this directive following a request from the Ministry of Education. The circular specifies that the banks will open at 10 AM and close at 3 PM, with a break from 1 PM to 2 PM for Juma prayers. Employees working on the holiday will receive appropriate allowances as per regulations.
