In a tragic incident on the night of January 24, 2025, Arnab Sill, a 28-year-old student from Khulna University (KU), was shot and brutally attacked with a sharp weapon by unidentified assailants in Khulna city. The incident took place around 9:15 PM at the Sheikhpara Tentultola area, leaving the victim dead at the scene.

Arnab Sill, an MBA student at KU, was the son of Chitta Ranjan Sill, a resident of the Banargati Islam Commissioner area. According to officials from the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), the victim’s body was later taken to the Khulna City Medical College Hospital. The police confirmed the incident but refrained from providing further details at the time.

Witnesses and police reports indicate that Arnab was drinking tea near the Tentultola area when a group of 15 to 20 armed youths on motorcycles approached him. Without any warning, they shot him at close range. As Arnab collapsed on the road, the attackers then proceeded to repeatedly stab him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. The assailants quickly fled the scene, abandoning the victim.

Arnab was rushed to the Khulna City Medical College Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life, but medical staff declared him dead upon arrival. The police have launched an investigation into the matter, though they have not yet disclosed any further information about the motive behind the brutal attack or the identities of the attackers.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonadanga Police Station, Shafiqul Islam, confirmed the details, saying, “I have received information about the shooting and stabbing of Arnab Sill, and his body has been sent to Khulna City Medical College Hospital. We are still gathering details about the incident and conducting an on-site investigation.”

At present, the police are trying to piece together evidence from the scene to understand the circumstances of the incident, but no arrests have been made yet. The murder has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many questioning the motive behind such a brutal act.

Authorities have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to investigate the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. The police are seeking cooperation from anyone who might have witnessed the event or have information that could assist in the investigation.
