Students from across the country have begun gathering at the Central Shaheed Minar early Tuesday morning to participate in the ‘March for Unity’ called by the anti-discrimination student movement.
Preparations for the event started at dawn, with students from various districts traveling to Dhaka overnight. Participants expressed hope that the movement would inspire national unity against fascism.
The program has sparked significant political discussion over the past two days. Debate surrounding the anti-discrimination student movement and the National Citizens’ Committee’s “July Revolution Manifesto” has added to the tensions.
In a press conference held late Monday night, the anti-discrimination student movement announced that the ‘March for Unity’ would take place at 3:00 PM at Shaheed Minar, underscoring its symbolic importance as a representation of national unity.
