Students from Mohammadpur Residential School and College staged a protest on Mirpur Road in Dhaka, demanding admissions based on merit. The demonstration caused severe traffic congestion on both sides of the road.
According to police, the protest began around 10:30 a.m. when the students broke through the school gate and occupied the road.
Ali Iftekhar Hasan, Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Model Police Station, stated that efforts were underway to calm the agitated students and restore normalcy.
As of 11:15 a.m., the road blockade was still in place.
Prior to the protest, the students had organized an online campaign advocating for their demands and executed the road blockade as planned.
