Comilla, Monday – BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, has taken responsibility for the family of Touhidul Islam, a Jubo Dal leader who was allegedly taken into custody and killed by joint forces in Comilla. The announcement was made by BNP’s Central Publicity Secretary, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, during a memorial gathering at Touhidul’s home in Ital village, Pachthubi Union, under Adarsha Sadar Upazila.

During his speech, Sultan Salauddin Tuku prayed for the departed soul of Touhidul Islam, asking for the highest place in paradise for him. He recalled the student uprising on the 5th of the month, which led to the fall of what he referred to as the "fascist government." Although the government fell and its leaders fled, he said that their remnants still exist in different places. He condemned the killing of Touhidul as a cold-blooded, premeditated murder and accused the “phantoms of tyranny” of orchestrating the crime. He warned that those responsible must face the highest form of justice.

The BNP leader stated that the party’s acting chairman had assured them that the case would be closely monitored until justice was served. He also announced that Tarique Rahman had pledged to take full responsibility for Touhidul’s family, recognizing them as part of the BNP's ideological family. He reiterated that BNP would take all necessary steps to ensure justice for their slain brother.

The event was attended by BNP’s Central Relief and Rehabilitation Affairs Secretary Haji Aminur Rashid Yasin, Central Jubo Dal President Abdul Monaem Munna, General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan, and several other party leaders. Before the speeches, a prayer and special supplication were held for the forgiveness of Touhidul Islam’s soul.
