On January 23, 2025, the Bangla Academy announced that ten distinguished poets and writers will receive the Bangla Academy Literary Award for 2024. This announcement was made through a notification signed by Professor Mohammad Azam, the Director General of the Bangla Academy, following approval from the Executive Council.The award recipients were selected based on recommendations from the "Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024 Proposing Committee" and decisions made by the "Bangla Academy Literary Award Committee 2024." Masud Khan for Poetry
Selim Morshed for Fiction
Shubhashis Sinha for Drama and Dramatic Literature
Salimullah Khan for Essays/Prose
Faruk Nawaz for Children's Literature
G.H. Habib for Translation
Muhammad Shahjahan Mia for Research
Rezaur Rahman for Science
Mohammad Hannan for Liberation War Literature
Syed Jamil Ahmed for Folklore

The awards will be formally presented by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, during the inaugural ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025, organized by the Bangla Academy.The Bangla Academy Literary Award, established in 1960, aims to recognize outstanding contributions to Bengali literature. Each award carries a monetary value of three lakh taka. The awards are given annually in various categories, celebrating contemporary authors' creative talents and fostering an environment conducive to education and culture within Bengali literature.
